Well it took long enough, but Mangini has announced this morning that
Chad Pennington will be the starter for the New York Jets against the Titans in Week 1. Said Eric Mangini about the announcement of Chad Pennington:
"His presence, his ability to move the team, his leadership - all those things that I've been looking for - he's done an outstanding job with and its clear to me that he should be the starter."
Well that's interesting, because New York area papers like Randy Lange of the
Bergen Record were reporting
just yesterday that Mangini had this to say after the Giants game about setting a starter.
"I haven't set a timetable on that. It would depend on whether someone has distinguished himself by the time we get to Tennessee."
Umm... so, remind us exactly did Pennington do between Monday and Tuesday to make that distinction? Or was conspiracist Dave Hutchinson of the Star-Ledger
right all along?
