As if things weren't going bad enough for the Kansas City Chiefs, Trent Green took a vicious hit from Bengals defensive lineman Robert Geathers on a five yard scramble. On the second-and-two play Green got the first down, but he ended up with a concussion for his troubles. The game was delayed 11 minutes while the Kansas City quarterback was put on a gurney and taken off the field. There was no flag on the play, and even though it was tough to watch the replay without feeling a little queasy, it didn't look dirty. Chiefs fans might disagree, however.

With the retirement of tackle Willie Roaf and the absence of running back Priest Holmes, Kansas City had questions about their offense coming into this game. While the team struggled to move the ball, the defense didn't do much either. Bengals running back Rudi Johnson busted off a 22-yarder and Kenny Watson added an 8-yarder to give Cincinnati a 17-3 halftime lead and quarterback Carson Palmer continued to impress after a serious knee injury just eight months ago.

Damon Huard took over for Green and managed to throw a touchdown pass to tight end Tony Gonzalez late in the fourth quarter, in an otherwise quiet offensive performance.
