I've done a bad thing: I've convinced myself Michigan is going to win. Even after last year. Even with Robot Jesus on the opposing sideline waddling his way to a national championsip. Even though Rueben Riley is no doubt going to be consumed whole by Victor Abiamiri and crapped out as a sack.
But I did it. I held myself together just long enough to come up with some rationale that go like this:
- Michigan's run game is poised right at the heart of the Notre Dame team;
- the fact that their corners can't tackle very well will help keep the heat off from the safeties;
- we'll blitz 'em like John Tenuta on speed, and
- if we don't win I'll cry.
House Rock Built impresario and ND Fanhouse kingpin Brian Stouffer's latest podcast features myself and Yost from The MZone talking about the game, Zoltan the Inconceivable, and when you should put on pants. (Late.) He also grabs a couple Youtube clips with video from the 1980 game -- lost on a travesty of officiating, natch -- contrasting the ND announcer's malignant, probably communist joy with Bob Ufer's incoherent sadness. Also make sure to check his ND Fanhouse for yet more material.
I review the ND's GT and PSU games, break down the CMU game, and interrogate House Rock Built.
Blah Me To Death takes an in-depth look at the running stats, finding evidence for Michigan dominance on both sides of the ball; Ron Bellamy's Underachieving All-Stars takes issue with the notion of a "fragile" Mike Hart; Stadium and Main begs aggressiveness and offers some general opinions. Maize 'n' Brew does the interview thing with ND bloggers House Rock Built (again) and Rakes of Mallow; The MZone breaks down everything except the game; Vijay from iBlog For Cookies recaps impressions from Vandy and CMU; Nonpartisan (and outstanding writer) Sunday Morning Quarterback predicts Michigan 22, Notre Dame 17.
24 hours to kickoff. I hope that holds you. Myself? Whiskey time. Unless Mom is reading this, in which case it's milk time.
