Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville called punter Kody Bliss' performance the best he's seen in his 30 years of coaching. And who could disagree? It's not a stretch to say that Bliss was the difference in the game. In a contest of field position, he was the most important player on the field.
On Monday, Bliss was named the SEC's Special Teams Player of the Week. While you're at it, go ahead and name him the NCAA's Player of the Week. Period. On Saturday against LSU, Bliss hit punts of 50, 60 and 61 yards. All total, Bliss averaged 48.2 yards per punt.
Bliss leads the SEC and ranks fifth nationally averaging 48.1 yards per punt this season. Bliss, a 2005 first-team All-SEC selection who is a nominee for the Ray Guy Award as the nation's top punter, ranks second in Auburn history with a career average of 43.65 yards per punt.
