Just like the headline said -- despite DJ's assertions that he was good to go for Saturday's game against Washington State, team physicians have said otherwise, and Jarrett won't be traveling with the team to lovely Pullman, Washington. As previously reported, sophomore Patrick Turner (pictured, right) and senior Chris McFoy will be the two guys responsible for filling Dwayne's rather large shoes on Saturday. Turner will be the starter, but McFoy's also figures to play a key role in the Trojans' passing attack. Freshman Vidal Hazelton saw additional time in practice all week, although he's expected to see only limited action on Saturday.
Turner's got a similar build (6'5", 220lb) to Jarrett (6'5", 210lb), while McFoy's got the experience and good hands. And don't forget about the other receiver that will lineup for the Trojans -- tight end Fred Davis, who had a huge game against Arkansas, but has been somewhat quiet since. Can anyone say "SERIOUSLY DUE"?
Not to downplay the talent of the All-American Jarrett, or his importance to our team -- but between all of those guys, and oh yeah, Steve Smith on the other side, the Trojans better be able to find somebody to step in and ease the pain of #8's absence.
