FSU Tumbles Out of Rankings

For the first time since, well, late last season, Florida State cannot be found in top 25 of the AP or the USA Today polls. This comes as little surprise, as the Seminoles lost a game to an unranked opponent for the second time this year Thursday night.

The 24-20 loss to NC State joins FSU with Miami in the unranked department. This is the first time that neither of these two national powers have been ranked since 1982. They have combined for seven national titles since then.

Although we are not in the official top 25, we are not too far out. Technically, we are #26 in the USA Today poll and #27 in the AP.

I never thought I'd see the day when Rutgers and Boise State would be ranked higher (and rightfully so) than the oh so once powerful Noles. On a positive note, we do play Duke next weekend. This is as sure a win as there is and should, by default, put us somewhere at the bottom of the Top 25 next week with losses by a few teams ahead of us. However, I doubt many Seminoles fans will be celebrating such an accomplishment.
