ESPN is reporting that Arizona Cardinals back-up Quarterback Kurt Warner is considering retirement following this season. After last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Warner made a statement to the effect of "I don't know about remaining a back-up in the NFL." Obviously that is not a direct quote, but the 35 yard old Warner has hinted at retirement briefly in the past.

"We'll sit down at the end of the year and see the way things are going," Warner said.
Warner, who is now in his ninth NFL season, has played for three different teams; St. Louis Rams, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals. This season he was scheduled to be the full time starter but turnover problems resulted in his replacement by rookie Matt Leinart.

If Warner does decide to retire after this season I will certainly wish him the best. He has been a class act wherever he has gone and made a lot of friends along the way. He never complained about being replaced by Matt Leinart and went as far as to say that he would help Leinart improve and understand NFL defenses to the best of his ability.

Warner had his best seasons 1999 and 2001, both with the St. Louis Rams. He helped the Rams win the Super Bowl in 1999 against the Titans and also won the MVP award in both of those seasons.
