Amazingly, Billy Davis Still Has a Job

It's around 9:50 am PST and I noticed 49ers defensive co-ordinator Billy Davis still has a job. I'm sure he would have been fired by now. What other line of work can you be in charge of a product so poor that is it perhaps the worst around. I know the 49ers don't have the best personnel on the defensive side of the ball, but jesus you would think the coach could help them out a little. In the four games the 49ers have lost, hold on let me rephrase that, in the four games the 49ers got their asses handed to them they have given up a total of 161 points. That along to go with the league lead in 130 points given up heading into halftime. It doesn't matter how well your offense is performing an average of 40 points given up a game will never get you in the win column.

The comical thing is Nolan doesn't think twice about canning or trading a player that doesn't fit his scheme or giving it his all, but on the other hand Billy Davis doesn't seem to be giving it his all, yet he still has a job. It's times like these when I wish owner John York put in his two cents. Because you know damn well York would have called Davis by phone and left him a message that his ass was fired. Not with this regime. I'm sure we'll here the same, "We didn't play well," "We'll look at game film and go from there," and so on and so on. Nolan needs to quit wasting time and fire Billy Davis. It's clear the defense isn't getting better, hell even Nolan said so himself.

"We're about where we were last year at this time," Nolan said.

I'd love to hear what the players have to say about Davis, but unfortunately they aren't asked. It seems Bryant Young has something to say but he won't until he's asked.

"They don't ask for players' input," said tackle Bryant Young, the most tenured member of the team. "Until they do, I don't want to say anything. I'd rather not get myself in trouble with anybody."

Something needs to be done to this defense and fast. The 49ers head into their bye week and now is the time to make changes to this defense and the first step should be in firing Davis.
