Meltdown in the Desert: Bears 24 - Cardinals 23

What can I even say? I mean I literally feel sick to my stomach. The Cardinals once again seemed to shut down in the second half and blew a 20-0 lead halftime lead and a 23-10 fourth quarter lead. I don't know how many times I said yesterday that they could not leave any points on the field, but they continued to do so all night long and it cost them. Obviously it was not just that which cost them. Miserable pass blocking, a late Edgerrin James fumble and a missed field goal with 53 seconds left all added to the meltdown in the desert.

They were so close to an upset it is literally sickening. The inability to hold on late in games continues to haunt the Cardinals and million dollar man, Mr. Give me the ball more, Edgerrin James. Speaking of James, how pathetic was that performance? Forget the offensive line for a second, 1.5 yards per carry? Are you kidding me? I could have done that for far less money. Something needs to change in the running game and now.

It's also sad to see the wasted efforts by Matt Leinart, Anquan Bolding and the entire defense. The Defense held the highest scoring offense in the NFL to only 3 points while Leinart put up 232 yards and two touchdowns on the NFL's best defense. Boldin also joined the action and made a statement of his own, grapping 12 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown.

Sadly, none of that matters now as the Cardinals fall to 1-5 on the season and blow yet another game late. It is becoming a common theme. They play well in the first half and fall apart in the second. I guess it really doesn't matter how much the schedule favors them here on out, their season is about over. One more week of this and it's time to start looking towards the NFL draft.
