It is something that had been talked about on and off for the last two years. Tiki Barber has been considering retirement but said he was waiting for at least one more chance to win a Super Bowl ring. It does not appear like that is the case anymore. Regardless of how the Giants finish this season, it looks like it will be Tiki's last.

"He's seriously leaning toward (retiring)," said Barber's business agent. "I think he feels he's perfected his craft, in a way, and is ready for something else."
Prior to the season Tiki said he would consider retiring if the right opportunity came along. That opportunity may be a job in broadcasting or perhaps even as a news anchor, but it appears that something other than football has come up for Tiki.

"For the longest time, I thought I had to win a Super Bowl to define my career," Barber said. "I would like to, but I don't have to, because I can walk away knowing I did the best I could."
Thinking about life after Tiki Barber makes me a little bit sick. Take nothing away from Derrick Ward or Brandon Jacobs, but Tiki may very well be the greatest all around offensive player in Giants history. I can only wonder where the Giants would have been over the last few years if not for Tiki.

When asked if there was anything that could change his mind, Tiki casually and confidently said "Nothing." Meanwhile, Giants GM Ernie Accorsi gave his thoughts on Barber.

"You do not replace Tiki Barber, he's a Hall of Famer," Accorsi told The Times. "You have to go beyond the statistics to completely appreciate him, but I think he qualifies on numbers alone."

Here's to the Giants doing everything they can to win and get this guy a Super Bowl ring. Tiki will certainly be missed so fans need to give it up for him when the Giants are at home! Let's send Barber out in style.
