Okay, the insane person in this picture is, uh, me. My buddy Eddy Machette took the picture last weekend in front of the fabu Raging Bull Tailgaters' set up.

You have to remember, the word "fan" comes from the word "fanatic" and well, I am guessing my picture might be the one next to that word in the dictionary.

Yes, I am one of those dress up to go to the games people. I wear different stuff to different games. NFL football is an event, so you should dress accordingly. Battle Red Day might be the only time where red sequin pants are acceptable to wear. (They are so wrong they are right--you can't tell the extent of their wrongness from the picture).

If you have a problem with that point of view, just know that I am handy with a whip cheer stick.

Please come check out the fun at the Texans tailgate if you haven't tried it--check out this link for more info. Here's some more Battle Red gameday pix:

One of the best things that Bob McNair after buying the Texans was to promote tailgating as part of the gameday experience. (Tailgating was not allowed during the Oiler years.) All NFL teams have highs and lows, and newish franchises tend to get more of them lows. The community created by tailgating is something that makes the home games extra fun.

Here's a bunch of the Blue Crew tailgaters in front of open-roofed Reliant Stadium. Blue Crew folks are football serious, and run a very friendly tailgate. It was a perfect day for football.

Texans cheerleader Lynette on FSN with Joe Cahn, the Commissioner of Tailgating. The Commish travels around the country tailgating in his RV. Hope Joe had a nice time.

Cooler racing. I think you have to be drunk to imagine motorizing a cooler. These are gasoline or battery operated coolers that you can drive around if you happen to have an extra couple hundred dollars to spend on stupid stuff. I have to say that people seemed to have a lot of fun on 'em.

After the game--big smiles, blue skies and a Texans win. Nice.
