A woman is accusing Detroit Lions' center Damien Woody of drawing her offsides with promises of marriage, financial security, and her own business. A woman named Gina Ballard says Woody promised all these things to her, prompting her to end her engagement with another man. She says that Woody then never made good on any promises, and now she's seeking over $250,000 in damages.Ballard, and I find this to be disturbing and alarming on multiple levels, says she even agreed to have "extensive cosmetic and dental surgery" that Woody insisted on.
That sounds like a really healthy and stable relationship. Yikes, Damien Woody. If even a fraction of this is true, then it doesn't reflect real well on the character of anyone involved. This is the kind of relationship that's too screwed up to even be on Dr. Phil ... I don't even think people like this go on Springer. It's just too sad.
I'm just hoping that none of this is true, and that she made the whole thing up. I want to live in a world where NFL centers do not promise to leave their wives for women that they first have to coerce into having major facial surgery.
