The Monday night Patriots-Vikings game was fairly dull, but there was one brief moment of intrigue, when Patriots tight end Ben Watson scored a touchdown, a Metrodome fan threw a beer in Watson's direction, and for just a second it appeared that Tom Brady was going to go all Ron Artest on the fan in question. The fan who threw the beer is a real estate agent named Brad Reiland. As you'd expect, now that he's sobered up and been arrested for disorderly conduct, he's very apologetic: "Definitely something I would take back if I could," said Reiland. "But I did it, and I feel bad about it and want to apologize to both the Vikings and my family."
Uh, OK, Mr. Reiland. But I think there are two other people you should apologize to. One is, you know, Ben Watson. You did throw a beer at the man just because he was doing his job. The other is the friend of a friend of your brother who gave you the ticket to the game. The Vikings have a policy that season ticket holders are responsible for the actions of anyone who uses their seats, so the guy who gave Reiland and his brother the tickets might have his season tickets revoked. Can you imagine that? You're a die-hard Vikings fan, but you can't get the time off work necessary to go to a Monday night game, so you give your tickets to a friend, the friend brings his idiot brother, and the brother costs you your tickets. I'm guessing this isn't a friendship with a great future.
