This week, the New York Times wrote an article suggesting that David Carr is an "An Enigma in Search of Consistency." What a New York Timesy kinda foo foo title. It is true though. He leads the league in completion percentage at 70.5 but also is tied for the league lead for fumbles with 5.
David Carr isn't the only enigma. The entire team is. I've followed this team closely, closer than what is mentally healthy, and I have no idea what to expect from this team at all. There is no final result in the Giants game that would surprise me.
The 2006 Texans are a team that exceeds expectations and there-we-go-again disappoints in just about every game.
Sometimes they look fabulous, like during the first drives of many of the games. (Scripted plays tend to mean less thinking and more just doing). Sometimes they look wretched, like in the third quarters. (The Texans have been outscored 55-7 in the third quarter).
The first half of the game with the Cowboys was hard fought and close, the second half was an abomination. They follow a nicely executed destruction of the Jaguars with a ridiculous mistake fest against the Titans.
I guess the lack of consistency is the hallmark of a team that is learning new systems on both sides of the ball, depends on rookie players for key positions, and doesn't have the best personnel fit for the type of schemes that they are running.
