3 straight over the hated 'Noles. 2 straight in Doak on Ron Zook Field. Florida is 6-0 against its "Big 3" rivals -- Georgia, Tennessee, and FSU -- in 2 years. And the Gators are 11-1 in Meyer's second year as the Gators' head coach, headed to Atlanta to take on Arkansas for the SEC Championship. And, by the way, beating all of UF's rivals two years in a row is something Spurrier never did when he coached the Gators.
Does anyone doubt that Meyer has lived up to the hype?
While Florida failed to put up the so-called "style points" against FSU, what's important is that the Gators notched the win and, for the most part, controlled the game start to finish. Florida became one-dimensional after losing Percy Harvin to a neck stinger and DeShawn Wynn to a shoulder injury, forcing Leak to throw for most of the second half. When one considers the fact that kicker Chris Hetland missed two makeable field goals in this game -- making for a nightmarish 3-12 regular season record -- Florida's offensive output was respectable. Especially in a hostile road environment, in a rivalry game charged with emotion.
Game postmortem coming up. For now, enjoy the win.
P.S. As an example of just how far FSU has fallen, fans at Warchant and Renegade Report are taking consolation in the fact that Florida only beat them by a TD. Wow. The bar has truly dropped for the Nolies.
