Amare's Revenge

After being held scoreless in a 92-83 win over New Orleans, Amare Stoudemire would explode with monster performances over the next two games. Unfortunately for me, he wasn't the only one exploding, and his revenge extended beyond the basketball court. Let me explain.

The next game for the Suns was the Friday after Thanksgiving against the New Jersey Nets. I happened to be in town visiting some extended family, so I decided to check out the game in person. Before the game, I grabbed a bite at Amare's namesake restaurant Stoudemire's, which was directly across the street from the arena and had kind of an upscale sports bar feel to it. The food was fine (chicken parm and a caesar salad), but immediately after eating I had a strong stomach ache. I pressed on to the game, and watched Amare dominate the first half and lead PHX to a 16-point lead at the break. Amare finished with 25 points, 10 boards, and seven blocks, and followed that up with a 20 point, 11 rebound, 4 steal performance in a win at Portland two days later.

Amare would not be satisfied with his on-court dominance though, he apparently had to show that his restaurant could dominate as well. STAT's "powerful" culinary skills forced me to miss the second half and head back to my hotel, where I proceeded to yak my guts out for the rest of the evening.

Hey Amare, I'm glad you're getting your old form back, but next time let's keep the explosive performances on the court and away from your fans, alright?
