I don't know if any of you have caught a glimpse of the Pacers this year, but their team has taken on an entirely different look. And no, I'm not talking about the fact that they've added players such as Marquis Daniels and Darrell Armstrong. But what I am talking about is how a few of their players have changed their trademark hairstyle.
Jermaine O'neal came into training camp sans cornrows. I just chalked it up to him joining in with several of the other athletes and rappers that have gotten rid of their braids recently (See: Rip Hamilton, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, and Donovan McNabb). Anyhow, it's weird seeing J.O. without his trademark braids. I mean you have to go all the way back to his Rookie year to find photos of him without his rows. But it probably was time for them to go.
Stephen Jackson has also chopped of his rows. But I am under the impression that his haircut had something to do with his recent legal trouble. I can see a stuffy attorney telling him that he has to clean up his look in order to have a better chance winning his various cases. Maybe that's a stretch, but I wouldn't totally discard it as such.
The king of the new hair cut so far has to be Al Harrington. If you haven't seen Harrington's new look this year, he's sporting a fro-hawk that makes him look like a member of the Mr. T fan club. What in the world was he thinking when he got that haircut? He must have lost a bet or something. What makes it worst is that he rocks a headband over it. Just nasty! I certainly have pity for that fool!
