Need a Young Big Man? Maybe the Warriors Can Help Out

If you haven't noticed, the Golden State Warriors are coached by the Don Nelson and are currently in the midst of playing Nelly Ball. Nelly Ball really doesn't require a traditional big man, so the Warriors will probably be content just playing Andris Biedrins every night. With Biedrins playing out of his mind right now, it seems like this strategy might end up being a sound one. However, because the Warriors currently have three big guys that most likely won't get much burn, there should be teams out there looking to pick these guys up. Namely, second year power forward, Ike Diogu and rookie center Patrick O'Bryant. I would list Adonal Foyle in this group as well, but as we all know, no team in the league wants Foyle, at least not with his current bloated contract.

This has to be a tough proposition for Warriors GM Chris Mullin when you consider that Diogu and O'Bryant were the Warriors last two first round picks. I mean, how does a GM go for his coach sitting his last two lottery picks? I guess when your team has missed the playoffs the last twelve seasons you're not really in a position to question a coach that has your team on a winning track this season.

So what will happen to Diogu and O'Bryant? I know Nelly wanted to send O'Bryant down to the D League, but O'Bryant instead chose to stay with the team and work with one of the Warriors assistant coaches. Diogu is currently hurt, but he wasn't really playing that much prior, and that was before emergence of Andris Biedrins. Maybe Mullin will be willing to deal one of his young bigs?
