Maybe the Eagles should bring in Rocky for their final home game of the year against Atlanta. Sly Stallone was in attendance last night at the Eagles/Panthers Monday Night match up in Philly. The Eagles pulled out the W and the fans loved every minute of it.All the freezing front-row fans at Monday night's game still seemed to love Philly's favorite fictional son, chanting "Rocky! "Rocky!" at Stallone during pregame warmups. It's the kind of reception the actor _ or is it character _ receives everywhere in Philadelphia, from short waves to the fans or a statue dedication. Even former Eagles player Hugh Douglas dropped in to the TV broadcast booth to meet Stallone.I sat down in my seat in the mid level just in time to see Stallone walking off the sideline. The only reason I noticed was because I could clearly hear the "Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!" chants."Philadelphia's been like a real safe haven for me," Stallone said. "The reason I'm here today is because of Philadelphia. They just backed the film. It was a real perfect blend of the character, which really represented the people of Philadelphia. It just was a lucky accident it all came together."
Stallone was in town promoting the release of Rocky Balboa, the final installment in the story of our favorite southpaw from South Philly/Kenso.
My only beef is with Getty Images. The Rock isn't exactly the type of celeb we want close up face shots of -- perhaps a nice panoramic picture with Sly wearing his Eagles jacket with the passionate Philly fans cheering him on in the background.
Anyone else notice Stallone was sporting the same jacket Ryan Howard was wearing when he was at the Eagles game?
The Rock isn't a Timmy Kelly level good luck charm. The last Stallone was at the same game as me the Birds lost the opening of the Linc 17-0 to Tampa Bay.
