Tommy McDonald's NFL Championship Ring
The ring on the right is the ring Tommy McDonald won when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers at Franklin Field in Philadelphia in 1960 to win the National Football League Championship. They didn't call it the Superbowl then and the Eagles wouldn't reach the Superbowl until 20 years later.
The hands you see pictured caught 495 balls in the NFL and belong to Hall of Fame wide receiver Tommy McDonald. The ring on the left is his Hall of Fame ring. Not a bad set of bling for an old guy.
I chatted briefly with Mr. McDonald in the Phillies Diamond Club before last nights match up. He was signing autographs and just being an all around friendly guy. He was awfully proud of those two rings -- as he should be. It isn't every day you get to see a Philly championship ring. We may not see another one for decades the way our luck goes.
You can read more about Tommy McDonald at the Hall of Fame's website. Any old timers have any McDonald stories to share?
