I'm sure their sources are credible, but the story wasn't.

So here I am with egg on my face, and well, dammit.

I'm feeling charitable because it's 1)Friday and 2) the Holidays so I'll leave the four letter words and angry letter at home. However, The Birmingham News is totally On Notice. Sit in your corner and think about what you did, fellas, ya goofed. Any further reporting from you on Alabama's coaching will lack truthiness in my book. Argh.

Check out some of these gems:
After Rodriguez's representatives negotiated with Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore for most of today, Rodriguez has told Alabama officials he is ready to take the job offer he received this morning.
Yeah, about that.
After two weeks of searching for a replacement for coach Mike Shula, who was fired Nov. 26, the only aspect of the process left is for Rodriguez to tell his team he is leaving his home state and alma mater.

Alabama officials are confident Rodriguez will sign his deal Friday morning, sources said, because the two sides have agreed on all economic and non economic issues.
Humbug.

Are you watching this, SID's? Blogs get the bad rap for running false stories, but newspapers and other more established media can just as easily make mistakes. The good blogs want the truth just as much as the newspapers and can fess up when they make errors. It's a mirage that the established media are all that different from us. We're knocking at that door, time to let us in.
