Alando Tucker Scores 32; Wisconsin Makes Emphatic Statement Over Pittsburgh

Alando Tucker may have moved to the top of the Naismith race on Saturday as he turned in a dominating performance as No. 7 Wisconsin upended No. 2 Pittsburgh 89-75. Tucker added 10 boards to lead Wisconsin to the best victory of the Bo Ryan era.

Tucker and Brian Butch each had an outstanding first half, as they both went 7-of-9 from the field and scored 20 points before intermission. Wisconsin led big for most of the game, and the Badgers have established themselves as Final Four contenders.

For Pittsburgh, this was the first loss before Jan. 1 since coach Jamie Dixon took over (a streak of 44 games), but that says more about Pittsburgh's easy nonconference schedules than it does about the Panthers' early-season play. The one player who did impress for the Panthers was 7-footer Aaron Gray, who despite being sick all week had 17 points. Gray gives Pittsburgh all kinds of matchup advantages, but this sure didn't look like a Top 10 team.
