Let's take a quick look at the NFC playoff picture. Chicago is in. Let's assume New Orleans is in as well. That likely leaves Dallas (8-5), Seattle (8-6), New York (7-6), Philly (7-6), Atlanta (7-6), Minnesota (6-7), and Carolina (6-7) all battling it out for 4 spots.
Basically, any of those 7 teams have a very legit shot at making the post season. Whoever can perform the best and come away with the most W's in the final 3 weeks will be playing in the post season. I don't even think this game against the Giants is a must win in terms of reaching the post season. It's more of match up with your hated rival to show that you can't be walked all over.
In terms of team morale and pride, you could call this game a must win. Mathematically speaking, the Eagles could very easily lose this game and still make the post season. There is a very good chance the Birds could lose their next two against New York & Dallas and still make the post season as long as they beat Atlanta in the season finale to finish 8-8. A .500 mark can get you into the NFC playoffs as long as you won the head-to-head match ups against the other 8-8 teams.
Obviously as Birds fans we'd like to see both the Giants and Cowboys beat up by our Birds so we don't have to worry about all this standings crap.
