Ugliest incident in the NBA since The Brawl in Detroit. Yet another terrible black eye for the League. What a shame. A tragedy; an AMERICAN TRAGEDY!!!

Whew. Glad we got that BS out the way. Now, let's get real: Who were the winners and losers in the fight?

The Winners

Nate Robinson: That pile drive he did on J.R. Smith was simply beautiful. Almost brought a tear to my eye. It reminded me of the time another Knick (Chris Childs?) flipped a Miami Heat player (can't recall who) into the crowd in one of those crazy, low-scoring, Knick-Heat playoff battles from nearly 10 years ago. Great job, Mr. Robinson.

Jared Jeffries: Dude was ready to put a hurt on somebody, and were it not for the phalanx of arms holding him back, serious damage would have been done. I didn't know you got down like that, Jared.

The Fans: Let's be honest, we love this stuff. As long as no one gets hurt (which is almost always the case), the fisticuffs add to everyone's enjoyment of the game. The media will get their panties in a twist over the incident for the next few weeks, but that's only because they have to act that way. When it comes right down to it, that was just good ol' entertainment.

The Losers

Mardy Collins: For that unnecessary cheap shot on J.R. Smith as the game was winding down. I figure, HE figured that by showing a little toughness, former Bad Boy and current coach Isiah Thomas would look his way a bit more next time he needs a fresh body off the bench. Unfortunately, the only person who's gonna be giving Marty a second look is fine-happy Stu Jackson.

Carmelo Anthony: Being a big Anthony supporter, I gotta say that 'Melo let me down tonight. First, he sucker punches a guy, and then, from the looks of things on the ESPN.com video, he ran AWAY from Jared Jeffries! I thought you were from Baltimore, homey?!?!!?!?!?! The cast of The Wire would not be impressed.

The Knicks: 123-100 (there was a game tonight, right?)
