Following the Giants 36-22 home loss to the Eagles an angry Tom Coughlin, for the second time in a month, threw his starting Quarterback under the bus.
"I would have really looked forward to that last drive. They came with a blitz on first down and we didn't see it. Quarterback didn't see it. And he got hit while he was throwing the ball off to the left. It became a real simple interception for them and a touchdown. He should have seen it. He's in the gun, has a good chance to see it, I think is attention is drawn off to the left. He doesn't see it. I mean it happens but you'd like to think he makes the read, hit the hot [receiver], maybe make five or six yards and have it be second down instead of a turnover."I'll be the first to admit that play was very ugly and it sealed the deal but Coughlin makes it sounds like Eli Manning is the only one to blame. The kid was getting smacked around all damn day and he held tough throughout. If there was one player who was not at fault for this loss it was Eli. I personally am getting sick and tired of the coaches and fans blaming Eli for everything that goes wrong with the Giants. It's like people just wait for the moment when they can call out Eli. He gets a terrible rap and it's getting real old real fast.
If Tom Coughlin wants to place blame somewhere how about those two first and goals from inside the 10 where the Giants came away with a total of 6 points? How about showing a lack of effort on their final drive calling plays over the middle with no timeouts left? How about running when they should be passing and passing when they should be running?
You could blame the offensive line, you could blame every receiver not named Jeremy Shockey or Plaxico Burress, you could blame the entire defense and you could blame all of the coaches. Nope, instead Coughlin taked another shot at Eli. This is the first time I'll say this and the first time I really mean it; it's time for Coughlin to go.
