The Jets are blowing up. Elmo of Sesame Street fame took the time last week to have Eric Mangini and some of the Jets players on his show "Elmo's World" (part of Sesame Street) so they could teach him a little about football and he could teach them about life on the street. It seems that the players had a good time at the taping, some with their children in attendance. Apparently, Coles who seems to have no problem joking about Coach Mangini (AKA "The Penguin") had a tougher time cutting loose with his coach in front of him.
"It was good for me to have an opportunity to see Coach in a different light," Coles said. "To see him interact with his kids and stuff, it's exciting. I get to see another part of him." ...That's saying something when Eric Mangini is telling you to lighten up. Just good to see the Jets getting some legitimate street cred from the likes of Elmo.
But like the other Jets, it took him a while to loosen up in front of Elmo. They were all a little nervous starting out, so Mangini turned to Coles off camera.
"You need to lighten up the mood," he said, to which Coles replied, "I'll try, but it's hard with you here."
