The Titans were denied a Pro Bowl starter yet again – for the third straight year. On the upside, they did place four alternates, including my favorite, Vince Young. Along with Young, Kevin Mawae, Pacman Jones and Chris Hope are alternates, but there was no indication of where they are ranked, which ultimately decides if they'll even make the trip.In the past, the Titans have had players actually play in the Pro Bowl as alternates, including Steve McNair last year after a whole slew of injuries.
I'm more than a little ticked that no Titans made the Pro Bowl this year, but am guessing that the 0-5 start didn't help matters much. On the other hand there were no Titans voted in the Pro Bowl in 2002 and they made it to the AFC Championship Game that year, for crying out loud. Coach Fisher actually coached the AFC team that year and ended up taking Kevin Carter with him.
It's enough to give a girl a complex.
I still hold out fervent hope that Young will end up winning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. It's not out of the realm of the possible, after all. The man has led the Titans to a 7-4 record as a starter.
