Darius Sanders, the Ducks' leader in sacks this season apparently had some academic issues to clear up this week so he didn't make the team flight down to Vegas on Monday. Causing concern among Duck fans who know how important strong play by ends and corners are in stopping a spread offense like BYU's. Fortunately, he's cleared it up a couple days later and he's made the trip. He'll play Thursday against John Beck and the Cougars. Sanders is a senior and this will be his final game as a Duck. I always liked him, thought he played hard and wish the Ducks had gotten more out of him.
Not just on the football field, but I've always wondered how he'd have fared at small forward for Ernie Kent's team. Sanders played high school hoops at Dominguez in California alongside a pretty good player. The two of them won a few state titles at a very high level of play. Sanders can flat out ball. Of course it didn't hurt that his teammate was Tyson Chandler but, hey, like I said, Darius could fill it up and board in his own right.
