Texans Having a Blue Christmas

The Texans are marketing the upcoming Christmas Eve game against the Colts as Deep Steel Sunday. For the first time, the Texans will be wearing their deep steel blue jerseys and pants together. Sounds fierce.

Why the Texans chose to go with blue unis for a Christmas game against a team that wears blue is kind of baffling though, as they have only worn their winnerific alternative red jerseys once this season. I guess I will keep my red Texans Christmas sweater in the closet.

This puts me in mind of the Elvis version of the tune, Blue Christmas: "I'll have a blue Christmas without you."

I'll be at the game, but I anticipate that a lot of people will no-show given their frustration with the season, the "stay the course" rhetoric from the owner, Christmas Eve game, likely outcome and anticipated cold wet tailgate weather (at least we can close the roof).

The HoustonProFootball.com guys who are doing their preview of the game have aptly renamed it Deep S#&% Sunday. The Texans are 0-9 against the Colts and have shown few signs that this Sunday will be different.

HPF suggests the Texans will run against the porous Colts run defense, but I will believe it when I see it. The Texans have abandoned the run before when they've played teams with questionable run defense (Buffalo, Titans), so I don't see why it will be any different on Sunday. I can always pray an early Christmas present though.
