The Basics:Name: Drexel Dragons
Conference: Colonial Athletic Association
Mascot: Mario the Magnificent, who may or may not be gay
Last year's record: 15-16, (8-10)
This year's record: 8-2 (0-0)
This year's current RPI: 7
Player You Should Know: Frank Elegar. Elegar the rare dominant big man in mid-major basketball, a 6'9" junior center from the Bronx. He leads the dragons in scoring with 15.3 points per game, and is second on the team in rebounding with 7.5 per game (Chaz Crawford leads the conference with 8.4 a game).
Outlook: The might not come right out and say it, but Drexel fans have visions of George Mason's final four run last year in the back of their head. Mason is actually up next on the schedule, and if they win that one and a couple more, a spot in the Top 25 should be a reality.
Few mid-major teams can boast a front line like the Dragons. Chaz Crawford is a defensive force, blocks a ton of shots and hits the board hard. Pair him with Elegar's scoring touch, and the outside game of Dominick Mejia and Bashir Mason, and that's going to make it awfully difficult on teams.
