Remember Kris Brown? Before joining the Texans, he kicked for the Steelers from 1999 to 2001. Pittsburgh offered him a new deal following the 2001 season but Brown claimed he wanted to move closer to home, or some such excuse, and bolted.

What's interesting is that the Steelers moved into Heinz Field before the 2001 season and it quickly became one of the toughest places to kick. A lot of that had to do with Brown's monumental struggles, when he finished the year 30-of-44, including an 0-for-4 effort in a 13-10 loss to the Ravens. Yeah, I'd leave too.

Now, five years later, Brown has been mostly successful, but following a late-season slump in 2005, he decided to really work on getting better instead of, you know, trying to make time with the ladies and sending half-nude pictures of himself to sweeten the pot.
Brown sat down with special teams coordinator Joe Marciano in the offseason, and the two tweaked Brown's approach. The result has Brown coming off one of the biggest kicks of his career.
That's right, after picking up a few helpful pointers, Brown is converting 76 percent of his attempts, is 11-of-13 from beyond 40 yards, and striped a 48-yarder with no time remaining to beat the Colts last week.

And Jeff Reed? Well, he's having his worst season since 2003. But hey, at least he looks great with his shirt off.
