The story of the Saturday night Giants-Redskins game was the way Tiki Barber, playing the last regular season game of his career, single-handedly led his team to the playoffs with a franchise record 237 yards.

But let's not overlook the other story. There's no delicate way to say this, so I'm just going to say it: Someone burped into a microphone on the NFL Network broadcast. Mr. Irrelevant was right on top of this one last night, and the way he describes it pretty well sums it up:

microphones picked up Bryant Gumbel burping on-air twice during the game; once near the end of the third quarter and again at the beginning of the fourth.

Gumbel said after the second belch that he didn't know where that burping noise came from, but then he and Cris Collinsworth started talking about all the ribs they ate, implying that they were feeling some gastrointestinal discomfort. I'm not sure what to believe. On the one hand, Gumbel is a TV professional with a few decades of experience and a mantel full of Emmys. You'd think he'd know how to cut the microphone in that situation. On the other hand, who else could it have been?
