With NFL head coaching jobs beginning to open, we'll profile some of the candidates to fill those openings.

Name: Jim Mora

Current job: Unemployed

Past jobs: Head coach, Atlanta Falcons, 2004-06; defensive coordinator/ secondary coach, San Francisco 49ers, 1997-2003

Pros: Led the Falcons to the NFC Championship in his first season there. Known as a high-energy coach who brings passion to his job and relates well to his players.

Cons: Never lived up to the promise he showed in his first season. Seemed burned out by the end of 2006.

Conclusions: Mora said at his farewell press conference in Atlanta this week that he wanted to continue in coaching. At the time, it seemed unlikely he could find a head coaching job this year, but as Dolphins FanHouse has noted, the departure of Nick Saban opens a job where Mora might be a good fit. Mora is more likely to spend a year in television, though. And who knows, maybe in a year, his dream job at the University of Washington will be open.
