Tony Parker's Rap Video ft. the Spurs
What you just witnessed was San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker's music video called "Top of the Game" featuring Brooklyn, New York rapper Fabolous and popular French rapper Booba . Tony P. -- or as I like to call him, Tony Par-car -- recorded the song a few years ago (no, literally, a few years ago), but the accompanying video is news too me. (And odd considering it was was released so long after the song got leaked, no?)
Anyway, the video's fairly unoriginal as far as rap music videos go -- the boom-box, the dangling mic, the bright lights and low camera angles -- but I've got to admit; Parker's decision to feature Spurs' teammates Tim Duncan, Robert Horry, Brent Barry and then-teammate Nazr Mohammed was pure genius.
I mean, sure, the fact that Duncan's now appeared in more rap videos than I have is a little unsettling, but man, that "Oh damn, we're so busted for playing basketball at night" scene is worth it. Thumbs up, officer!
And before you ask, no, I didn't plan on this week's FanHouse theme being Tony Parker does YouTube. It was just in the stars, OK?
