A regular feature profiling each of the 17 candidates for enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Name: Richard Dent

Position: Defensive end

Career: 1983-1993, 1995 Chicago Bears, 1994 San Francisco 49ers, 1996 Indianapolis Colts, 1997 Philadelphia Eagles

Pros:
MVP of Super Bowl XX. 137.5 career sacks. Integral part of dominant Bears' defenses of the 1980s.

Cons:
Never considered great against the run. Would he have been a great player if he hadn't had Hall of Fame teammates like Mike Singletary and Dan Hampton?

Verdict: With a maximum of six members in each Hall of Fame class, you have to be great to get in. Dent was just very good. He gets a vote of NO.
