Giants End Failed Experiment; Fire Tim Lewis

Today the Giants officially cut ties with defensive coordinator Tim Lewis. This really wouldn't have been a surprising move had it happened a week ago, but many assumed that once Tom Coughlin returned that Tim Lewis would as well. Obviously that is not the case and Lewis is now on the unemployment [or head coaching] line.

When Lewis left Pittsburgh there was a gripe about him playing a far too conservative defense. Here in New York it was no different and he often played a conservative defense, especially in the secondary, with guys who made their name being physical. It seemed like it was doomed from the start and a change certainly had to be made.

The question now becomes, who do the Giants replace him with? Current speculation is that Dom Capers is the likely candidate. While I think that there are better defensive coordinators available at the moment, anything it a step-up from Lewis.
