No Longer Eli's Coach; Giants Promote Gilbride

Kevin Gilbride has found himself a new job. He took over as offensive coordinator for John Hufnagel with one game left in the season and did a fairly serviceable job. Because the offense showed slight improvement the Giants have now given Gilbride the permanent offensive coordinators position according to the NFL Network.

The Giants will now find themselves in search of a new quarterbacks coach and someone to tutor Eli Manning daily as Gilbride had. Not that Gilbride was doing a terrible job in that role but it's clear that he wasn't getting through. At the same time, I liked some of his play calls and thought he was an obvious improvement over Hufnagel.

It may seem like a wild idea but perhaps the Giants can look toward Archie Manning as a potential quarterback coach. Think about it; who knows Eli better then him and who constantly talks to the media like he knows it all? Give him a shot, what's the worst that could happen?
