The biggest question heading into this game was which Rex Grossman would show up. After a strong start to the season, Grossman regressed to "Hey, why doesn't Lovie play Kyle Orton?" status by the end of the year. Grossman's three-interception, 0.0 QB-rating Week-17 performance against the Packers didn't help his confidence -- or his coach's confidence in him -- heading into the postseason. Well, after a two-week break, Grossman played better than anyone expected and finished the game 21-of-38 for 282 yards, with a touchdown and an interception. He connected with Bernard Berrian on a perfectly thrown 68-yard TD pass early in the second quarter, but his biggest play of the day came in overtime.
After Chicago's defense stopped Seattle on it's first overtime series, on third-and10 from the Bears' 34, Grossman hit Rashied Davis on a 36-yard pass play that set up Robbie Gould's game-winning 49-yard field goal four plays later.
It's important to remember that while Grossman played well for Grossman, he still wilted in the face of Seattle's pass rush which led to another lost fumble and three sacks.
Chicago is now in the NFC Championship game and will host the New Orleans Saints next week. If the Bears are to have a chance, they will need a much better effort from their run defense and a repeat performance from Good Rex.
