It's hard to imagine that the Jets could be moving on to their fourth offensive coordinator in four years, should Schottenheimer get hired away to the Miami Dolphins. I have to admit, a year ago, when the Mangini and the Jets hired Brian Schottenheimer, I wasn't sure what the Jets were getting. Was he just getting by on his name? Did he really have a system that could work?

A year later, he has not only become someone that have really come to appreciate and trust, but he is someone who might be a head coach in a matter of weeks. All this just after his first season as a coordinator. It's hard to know exactly what is going through Wayne Huizenga's head after being stung by Nick Saban's complete lack of loyalty, but often the pendulum swings the other way and I would imagine that he is looking not for someone who is on the coaches carousel like Mike Martz, or a big name without a job, but someone that he can control or at least will be loyal because oh, say he's the youngest head coach in all of professional football.

All that being said, the more I think about the situation and how much of a blow it would be for the Jets to have to install a new system in the off season, I am less and less concerned about this. Schottenheimer wasn't dumb luck on Mangini's part, he was someone who shared the same philosophy as his head coach and I know that Mangini will likely find someone who will help this team get better as a result of their hard work.

Let's just hope Schotteneheimer makes a better Offensive Coordinator than Head Coach like Norv Turner ...
