Arizona Fans Want to Stand Up, Dammit
Murthy, allowed back in the arena for Sunday's game with Oregon, planned on standing the entire game. He even wore a shirt -- along with many in the UA student section -- that said on the back, "Don't tell me to sit down." But Murthy did not stand the entire game because, well, he didn't want to get kicked out again.
Pretty silly stuff. This is the home arena and the super fan is trying to rally up the fans and the team. To kick one of your own out? Shame on the UA athletic department operations staff, which requested Murthy get ejected. Standing up is cool. People seem to get louder when they stand. That doesn't make any practical sense, but when the crowd rises to its feet, the volume gets cranked. I suppose this man was blocking some views when he stood, but all the more reason for those behind him to stand up to.
Consider Murthy a pioneer for standing. More teams and home arenas need a guy like him.
