Apparently, Charlie Weis' Buyout is $21 Million. That's a Lot of Scratch

So, you think you have enough money to buy out Charlie Weis' contract? Think again, hot shot. Peter King at SI.com reported in his blog that the buyout is a cool $21 Million. I don't care who you are, that's a lot of scratch.

Put another way, if an NFL team wants to acquire the services of Weis, they would first have to write a check for 21 big ones, then would have to offer him a contract where he makes substantially more money than he does at Notre Dame. All told, an NFL franchise would have to drop something like $8 or $9 Million a year to sign Weis for three years, which, suffice to say, is quite a bit more than any coach is worth.

Will this put an end to the Weis to NFL rumors? I doubt it. But hey, at least we know that Weis will be with the team, in his words, "until they fire me or I retire."
