Ok, Marcel, I'm coming clean: you're not the only one who reads that old New York Times for their hilarious NBA reporting. While other game recaps of last night's Nets win over the Pacers mentioned Mikki Moore in the context of his transformation from bench player to dependable starter, our friends at the NYT had a different angle:
The journeyman center Mikki Moore blocked a shot and yelled so loudly and his scowl was so intimidating afterward that he seemed to rattle a young girl sitting in the first row of Continental Arena.
That's a cute anecdote, but it doesn't really rise to the high level of reporting that I usually expect from the Times. Oh wait, here it is -- they do give an excellent description of exactly how the scare went down:
He swatted a layup attempt by Pacers center Jermaine O'Neal, screamed, flexed and stared ahead.
Wow, those folks really know how to bring a moment of scary "swag" to life. The "stared ahead" part brought shivers to my spine. Keep up the good work, kids!
(P.S. Of course, Mikki Moore truly is a frightening brotha. He's an outlaw who throws it down Cops-style with the police whenever he gets arrested. Oh wait, never mind.)
