Randolph Childress Breaks Jeff McInnis's Ankles
And I'm a Tar Heels fan. This is from the 1995 ACC Tournament and I'm guessing Jeff McInnis still wakes up crying uncontrollably thinking about it. It's one thing to cross somebody up -- it happens all the time in basketball -- but Childress abused McInnis. I mean, McInnis fell down. And as he was contemplating whether to get up or kill himself, Childress motioned McInnis over to guard him. As McInnis made it to his feet, Childress launched a three and ... rain drops.
It's easy to forget how good that Wake Forest team was. Tim Duncan led the ACC in rebounds and blocks, and Childress averaged 20.1 points per game, good for third in the conference. The Demon Deacons would make it to the Final Four before losing to Oklahoma State and Big Country.
Childress only played two NBA seasons, but he'll always have The Crossover.
