Hair controversy has dogged Steve Nash throughout his career. But this season, he's found a way to use it for more than just a fashion statement. First, he clips off his legendary mane and immediately gains an added edge. Now, his team is acknowledging their latest win streak by refusing to shave. From
The Arizona Republic:
A few Suns, Steve Nash included, aren't shaving until their winning streak ends, which means things could get hairy.
"I don't know who started it, but I got suckered into it," said Nash, adding that he hates the scruffy look.
You may remember that Amare started the season looking unshorn and mildly insane, so assume he's in. This kind of thing is right up Raja Bell's alley. But at least one key Sun is sitting out this exercise in team spirit:
Shawn Marion sported stubble during Thursday's practice, but said he wasn't participating. "I can't do it, man," he said. "My face gets too itchy."
Really, aren't the Suns already cohesive and telepathic enough? Do they really need to risk discomfort just to make a point about all-for-one, one-for-all? Plus I'd be worried about aerodynamics issue; with the kind of game Barbosa plays, he should probably shave his entire body for that added speed advantage.
