ESPN's Chris Mortensen, who's probably still gloating over getting the Tomlin-to-Pittsburgh rumor correct, now has this: Citing anonymous NFL sources, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Vick wasn't carrying marijuana or any other illegal substance. The ESPN report also cited an anonymous Falcons source, who said the team expects to hear something formal by Monday. So, there you have it. It looks like Vick is guilty of nothing more than acting really weird at airport security. Not surrendering a water bottle isn't illegal, but his actions do raise suspicions.
Innocent or not, there's also the issue of why Vick was carrying around a bottle with a hidden compartment that smelled like marijuana. Again, I don't think it's against the law, but it's probably not in Vick's best interest to have it on his person, especially since he's had several off-the-field incidents in recent months.
Again, Mortensen's report relies on anonymous sources so take that for what it's worth. And whether Vick is innocent of these particular charges, he still has a lot of questions to answer about the circumstances that brought all of this on in the first place.
Somewhere Matt Schaub is high-fiving himself.
