The Five Suckiest Choices for Oregon Offensive Coordinator

5. Me. Yeah me. Or you. Or anyone else you've never heard of who's also unqualified. With the talent coming in, the reputation for sending coordinators to head coaching spots or more lucrative coordinator jobs, Oregon shouldn't be calling anyone who's qualifications aren't much better than mine. Or yours.

4. UCLA's Svaboda, Clemson's Mike McCain, Mississippi's Noel Mazzonne, former Carolina Panthers OC Dan Henning or anyone else who was just fired from the same job, at a school Oregon's trying to get past. I hate hiring those kinda guys. I know, they've got a chip on their shoulder last chance wanna prove everyone wrong redemption kinda stuff goin' on in their heads. Whatever. You can't succeed in Westwood or down at Clemson, you don't get a 'second chance' in Eugene in my book.

3. Hines on the Educk message board. He's got a point about everything, and is lightening quick to find fault in everyone else's ideas. Most of those ideas are just ridiculous of course, so he's got a point, but I think that attitude would get old with Campbell, Pflugrad and the rest of the offensive coaches. I could be wrong about this, I'm sure Hines will point that out.

2. Jonathan Smith. (Pictured above.) Not only was he a Beaver. He's just the Idaho quarterbacks coach. He's not qualified to do the job, so I pray they won't interview him. But he is a smart guy. There's that great story about Erickson meeting him for the first time and thinking he was the equipment manager. Better he works for Akey in Idaho than Bellotti at Oregon. Let him 'grow up' somewhere else. (Since my first draft of this Smith has noted that he has not been contacted by the Ducks.)

1. Andy Ludwig. Brought in from Fresno State to replace Tedford, in hindsight that may have been one toughest gigs to follow in college football in decades. Still, the steady diet of off first down bubble-screens, off tackle runs on second down. And third and long with incredible predictability, led to the Duck offense slowing to a waddle. The predictability of Ludwig's play-calling got so bad in the end, I once called eight straight plays correctly as they broke the huddle. If I can do it, Pete Carroll would have a field day. And did. Bellotti 'allowed' Andy Ludwig to take a job with his old friend in Utah, and return to the safer expectations of Mountain West offenses.

My top five choices for this position comes out tomorrow. If you've got suggestions...WITH some kind of rational reasoning, post it in the comments.
