Gilbert Arenas Does Not Try at the All-Star Game

Gilbert Arenas is never shy about sharing his thoughts with us. He's done everything from predicting game-winning heroics to telling us when his next 50-point game will take place. Now, it looks like Gilbert is just happy to be at the All-Star festivities, and isn't really planning on giving much effort in the game itself:

I don't think I'll ever actually win MVP at All-Star, 'cause I'm always looking around at who came out that year. You don't know who's going to show up. I'm like, 'That's Jay-Z! Is that Bow Wow?! I don't get to see celebrities during my regular days, so at All-Star, I forget about the game. When I go out there to play, I'm not really doing anything; they may as well sub me out.

He's right about that last part, just look at his 0-4 performance and 1 point in almost 10 minutes of action in last year's game. I understand that the All-Star game is an event that's more for the fans than the players, but it's still a little disheartening to hear Gilbert say that his effort will basically match his jersey number. I guess the bright side is that he still seems like a wide-eyed kid when discussing the event, instead of a whiny and jaded veteran.
