Indiana Loses 3 Players
Tell the truth. You never saw this coming. Bailey seemed a Hoosier star for three more years. As a redshirt freshman he was ninth on the team with 40 tackles and led the team in tackles for loss (7.5). He was a big-time athlete -- swift and agile and aggressive. He had come to IU after a standout receiving career at Warren Central, but was converted to linebacker to upgrade the defense's speed and athleticism.
The Sporting News name Bailey to its All-Big Ten freshman team. Rivals.com listed him as a freshman All-American.
Now Bailey will showcase his talents at Western Kentucky. That's a Division I-AA school, so he can dodge the transfer redshirt rule and play right away next fall.
IU also lost two other players, although neither contributed this past season. They are linebacker Greg Weeks and defensive end Neal Jones.
All three players left "for personal reasons" according to IU officials.
