Sure, Shaq sat out last night's Heat/Bulls tilt after a measly two games back. But as long as he's keeping the streets safe, who cares if he can suit up? From the Miami Herald: Shaquille O'Neal helped catch a hit-and-run suspect early Sunday morning.Look, I'm not saying that Shaq should be able to play if he can fight crime. Driving an Escalade and intimidating wrongdoers with height and celebrity doesn't take much. In fact, I've got to think that O'Neal actually gains the right to speak sternly to active teammates by pulling stuff like this. It's like, so what if he's sitting down the whole game-he's a real life hero, while they're just basketball players. Like when the troops came to the USA Basketball locker room.
O'Neal and bodyguard Jerome Crawford had just returned from an away game in Chicago.
They were outside Crawford's Coconut Grove home unloading luggage when a car, driven by Emmnueo Cibrin, 18, veered into O'Neal's parked 2007 Cadillac Escalade.
O'Neal and his bodyguard saw Cibrin leaving the scene, and leapt into the damaged SUV to give chase. They tailed Cibrin and passenger Junior Rondon for about five minutes before catching up with the two Tampa friends near Southwest 17th Avenue and Coral Way.
