The over/under for the Super Bowl is listed at 48½, and if you're the kind of person who trusts video game simulations, they think you should take the over. EA Sports simulated the game on NFL Madden 07 for the XBox 360 (I guess no one likes the PS3), and they had it coming in as a very high-scoring game. EA says Colts 38, Bears 27.Not that this really means anything, but let's play along. If it were to go down like this, it would mean the Bears lost, but not for the reason that everyone seems to think they should lose, which is Rex Grossman. Madden '07 sees Rex going 22-of-38 passing for 231 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception.
Don't let any of this discourage you if you're a Bears fan. It's just a silly little publicity-grabbing simulation (and as evidenced by this very post, it's working). If anything, the Bears can post it in their locker room as more evidence of "disrespect" and/or "haters," as seems to be the trend these days.
But, the fact remains that the virtual Bears couldn't stop Peyton Manning, who would certainly be uttering the phrase, "I'm going to Disneyworld," if the Madden projection of 28-of-36, 383 yards 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception holds up. Please be advised, though, that while Madden rates things like a quarterback's arm strength, throwing accuracy, mental awareness, and agility ... they do not have a "choke" rating (I kid). Manning is rated a perfect 100 in "Doofus of a Little Brother," though.
Oh, and please forgive the picture. Mario has nothing to do with anything (he's probably a Giants fan), but my picture options with video-game relevance were not plentiful.
